My talk with Andrea was insightful and inspirational. Her story reminds us that God's redemptive love is available to us when we turn from our unrighteous ways and turn toward Him. I am reminded of the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32. My favorite verse of this parable is verses 17-20 , "When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants. So he got up and went to his father." In verse 17, the bible says that the son 'came to his senses'. Once he came to his senses, he was able to make a decision that put him back in fellowship with his father. In the same way, when we have tasted the bitterness of our own poor judgements and bad decisions, God gives us an opportunity to come to our senses and reconnect with Him. It's not something that we should ever take for granted. No one knows how much time they truly have. My prayer is that we are aware of when we are in the pigpen in our lives and we make immediate steps to head home to the Father once we come to our senses.
